In “Homo Deus,” Harari predicts the end of the world as we know it, caused by the collapse of democracy and the free market and the replacement of humans by sophisticated new technologies. 21 Lessons builds on the ideas explored in the previous two books to take the pulse of our current global climate. His success continued in 2015 with the Hebrew edition of “Homo Deus: A Brief History of Tomorrow,” followed by the American edition in 2017. Three years later, its English edition sold more than 1 million copies, and the book is now available in 45 languages. One of the literary giants is Yuval Noah Harari, a 42-year-old history professor at the Hebrew University in Jerusalem who gained global acclaim with “Sapiens: A Brief History of Mankind,” first published in Hebrew for the Israeli market in 2011. A wish to understand this moment and its possible dire consequences has unleashed a flood of articles and books - some by superstar authors. ![]()

In an era where some are throwing elaborate gender reveal parties and others are embracing they/them pronouns, Davis set out to answer that question, and to find out where tomboys fit into our changing understandings of gender. But "tomboy" seemed like an outdated word-why use a word with "boy" in it for such girls at all? Her child favored sweatpants and T-shirts over anything pink or princess-themed, just like the sporty, skinned-kneed girls Davis had played with as a kid. So when author and journalist Lisa Selin Davis's six-year-old daughter first called herself a "tomboy," Davis was hesitant. She feels guilty for his injuries, and that's how they end up having breakfast and beginning their relationship. In this case, Kiara's love and attention serves as a counterbalance for the police brutality. For instance, there is the issue of police violence. ![]() In the end, it isn't his commitment to "following the law" that saves Armpit, but instead, it's his persistence to do what is best for himself, and when he realizes the imbalance that Kiara's fame would bring to his life, he chooses to walk away.
